We are the first production cooperative in Paraná.1911
The first Dutch families settled in the region, motivated by the colonization plan established by the Brazil Railway Company, an English company specialized in the construction of railway lines. Under the work contract, each settler received the basics to settle in and start his new life, with a ten-year period for payment. Here begins the history of the Frisia Cooperativa Agroinsutrial.
1925
From the union of the pioneers, the first initiative to create a production cooperative in Brazil was born. From the production of milk, cheese and butter, the Sociedade Cooperativa Hollandeza de Lacticínios was born. The entity's first cheese factory is built.
1928
The company creates the Batavo brand, a tribute to the region of Batavia, located in the south of Holland, famous for its agricultural tradition. The first product to stamp the brand on the packaging is cheese, an article sought after in the national market.
1941
A new dairy factory begins to be built, to accompany the expansion with the arrival of new immigrants in the region. The Cooperativa de Laticínios Batavo is founded.
1947
With the arrival of new immigrants, the cooperative's membership expands, starting the process of introducing mechanized culture and genetic improvement in livestock activity, with the arrival of the first pure-bred Holstein cattle.
1954
The Batavo and Castrolanda cooperatives join forces and create the Cooperativa Central de Laticínios do Paraná Ltd., with the aim of organizing production on a larger scale. Later, Cooperativa Agropecuária de Arapoti Ltda is integrated into Cooperativa Central. The Batavo brand is incorporated into the cooperative for the industrialization of retail products.
1972
The pioneers found in the no-tillage technique a solution to the difficulties with the soil in the Campos Gerais region. Innovation that gave extremely positive results and became a milestone in the history of agroindustry in Brazil.
1984
From the need to expand research, support and dissemination of agricultural technology, the Fundação ABC arises, with the support of the cooperatives Batavo, Capal, Castrolanda and Cooperativa Central de Laticínios do Paraná.
2011
The cooperative returns to industrialization, with the production of its members, and opens the Central de Processamento de Leite Frísia. Frísia refers to a province in the north of the Netherlands, referring to the families of immigrants who arrived in the region in the 1940s, bringing with them new techniques and pure-bred cattle, which contributed so much to making the Campos Gerais dairy basin the most expressive of Brazil.
2015
The Batavo brand is purchased by the Lactalis group and the cooperative decides to change its corporate name to Frísia Cooperativa Agroindustrial, disassociating itself from the old name. An important step towards its growth, working with independent brands for product lines.
2016
Seeking new frontiers, Frísia puts into practice its expansion plan, opening its first warehouse outside the state of origin, located in Tocantins.
2017
The consolidation of intercooperation projects between Frísia, Castrolanda and Capal in the wheat and swine area, with the brands Herança Holandesa and Alegra, give rise to Unium.
2020
In 2020, Frísia completed 95 years of history and principles such as pioneering spirit, cooperation and excellence were essential to ensure the development of the cooperative over these years. After 95 years, the same principles are still more current than ever. It's been 95 years of many challenges and changes, but 95 years without losing the essence.

Where are we
Our headquarter is located in Carambeí, Paraná, a small town of Dutch descent and just over 20,000 inhabitants, whose economy is linked to cooperativism and agribusiness. There are more than 10 branches in the state, which serve several cities in the region.
Aiming for new frontiers, in 2016 we opened the first warehouse outside the state of origin, in the city of Paraíso do Tocantins. In 2022, the region will be able to count on one more unit, located in Dois Irmãos do Tocantins, currently under construction.
